Assurance Manager

This Assurance Manager role focuses on leading audit and review engagements for owner-managed private companies under Canadian accounting standards. You will manage multiple client files, oversee financial statement preparation and tax compliance, and provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters. The position involves supervising staff, building client relationships, and ensuring all work meets professional standards and deadlines.

What you will be doing

• Lead and manage assurance engagements for owner-managed private companies under ASPE
• Review financial statements, working papers, and tax returns for accuracy and compliance with Canadian standards
• Supervise and mentor staff, providing technical guidance on complex accounting and assurance issues
• Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting quality standards and deadlines
• Conduct research on technical accounting and tax matters, delivering recommendations to clients
• Identify and resolve accounting and tax issues that arise during engagements
• Develop and maintain client relationships as a trusted advisor on financial and business matters

What the role requires

• 5+ years of public accounting experience focused on owner-managed private companies
• Completed Canadian CPA designation
• At least 1 year of experience reviewing files prepared by junior staff
• Strong Canadian corporate tax experience with ability to advise on tax planning strategies
• Proficiency in financial statement and tax preparation software and spreadsheet applications
• Deep knowledge of Canadian accounting and assurance engagement standards, specifically ASPE
