This Senior Assurance Manager role focuses on leading and reviewing assurance engagements for owner-managed private companies under ASPE. The position involves overseeing complex engagements from planning through completion, acting as a technical expert, and managing client relationships while supervising and developing staff at multiple levels.
What you will be doing
- Lead, manage, and review assurance engagements for owner-managed private companies, ensuring compliance with ASPE and relevant standards
- Oversee planning, execution, and completion of complex assurance engagements, including preparation and review of financial statements, working papers, and tax returns
- Provide technical expertise in ASPE and resolve complex issues arising during engagements
- Build and maintain client relationships while delivering advisory services on financial reporting, business structuring, and tax planning strategies
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff at all levels, promoting professional growth and continuous learning
- Identify and manage engagement risks, implementing best practices to ensure quality and compliance
- Conduct technical research on accounting, auditing, and tax matters, providing conclusions and recommendations to clients
What the role requires
- 7+ years of experience in a public accounting firm with significant exposure to owner-managed private companies
- Completed Canadian CPA designation
- At least 3 years of experience managing and reviewing files prepared by junior staff and managers
- Experience in Canadian corporate taxes with ability to provide strategic tax planning advice for private companies
- Advanced proficiency in Caseware, Caseview, MS Office, and Taxprep
- Deep understanding of Canadian accounting, assurance engagement standards, and ASPE
